How Long Does Lip Blush Last?
A clear guide to how long does lip blush last?, healing, expectations and when consultation or medical approval may be needed.
Book consultationLongevity is a range, not an expiry date
Lip blush is designed to fade gradually. Around two to three years is a common working estimate in Tannaz’s client conversations, but individual retention can be shorter or longer.
Your starting lip and skin matter
Natural lip characteristics, previous pigment and how the skin holds colour all influence how the result ages. Two clients receiving a similar colour plan can fade differently.
Lifestyle can change retention
Sun exposure, smoking and repeated irritation can affect how the colour looks over time. Smoking is especially relevant in clients who also have concerns about dark or uneven lip tone.
Healing and aftercare affect the first result
The first healed result should be allowed to settle before judging retention. Picking, peeling or ignoring aftercare can interfere with how pigment heals.
A refresh is based on appearance, not the calendar
There is no need to refresh simply because a fixed number of months has passed. A future session should be considered when the colour has faded enough that the client wants renewed definition or tone.
Frequently asked questions
Is lip blush permanent forever?
No. PMU fades over time and should be discussed as a long-lasting cosmetic result rather than a permanent unchanged colour.
Does smoking affect longevity?
It can be relevant to both pigmentation and retention, so smoking should be discussed during assessment.
When should I refresh the colour?
When the healed colour has faded enough that you want more definition or tone—not simply because a calendar date has arrived.
